Cancellation Policy

Last updated: September 2026.

Andean Magic Travel operates private tours, which means every booking reserves a guide, a vehicle and, in many cases, tickets issued in the traveller’s name. This policy explains what happens if you need to cancel or change your date. It applies to all bookings made on this website, by WhatsApp or by e-mail. Machu Picchu has special conditions, because its tickets, trains and buses are issued by third parties with their own rules.

1. Tours, transfers and regular services

This applies to the City Tour, the Sacred Valley, Humantay Lake, Rainbow Mountain, the Route of the Sun, the Mystic Tour, private transfers and other services that do not depend on special third-party conditions.

Cancellation notice Refund
30 days or more before the service 100%
Between 15 and 29 days before 75%
Between 7 and 14 days before 50%
Between 3 and 6 days before 25%
Less than 72 hours before No refund
No-show No refund

2. Special conditions for Machu Picchu

Once certain Machu Picchu services have been issued, some amounts cannot be refunded, whatever the cancellation notice:

  • Machu Picchu tickets. Once issued, the ticket amount is subject to the conditions of the competent authority. If it cannot be recovered, it is deducted from the refund.
  • Train tickets (PeruRail or Inca Rail). They depend on the conditions of the fare booked. Promotional fares and tickets already issued may be non-refundable. Any penalty, retention or fare difference applied by the operator is passed on to the traveller.
  • Consettur bus. Subject to the operator’s issuing, change and refund conditions. Non-recoverable amounts are deducted from the refund.

If you cancel a Machu Picchu package, this penalty applies to the services that can be recovered:

Notice Penalty on recoverable services
30 days or more 10%
Between 15 and 29 days 30%
Between 7 and 14 days 50%
Between 3 and 6 days 70%
Less than 72 hours or no-show 100%

Added to that penalty, where applicable, are any tickets, trains, buses or other services already issued that cannot be recovered under their providers’ conditions.

3. Date changes

Date changes are subject to availability. Any price difference, penalty or cost charged by providers is borne by the traveller. For Machu Picchu, a change also depends on there being tickets, trains, circuits, a guide and transport for the new date.

4. Force majeure and circumstances beyond our control

In the event of strikes, blockades, road closures, extreme weather, site closures, government restrictions or other circumstances beyond Andean Magic Travel’s control, we prioritise rescheduling the service where possible. Any refund is subject to the amounts we actually recover from providers, minus those that cannot be recovered.

On mountain routes such as Rainbow Mountain, Humantay Lake or Ausangate, the guide may modify or shorten the route for safety reasons. Such changes do not entitle you to a refund.

5. Health and altitude

If altitude sickness or another health problem prevents you from continuing a tour that has already started, we will do everything we can to assist you and reorganise the day, but the unused part is not refunded. We recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation due to illness, and reading our acclimatisation guide before planning your first days in Cusco.

6. How to cancel or change your booking

Cancellation and change requests must be made in writing. They count from the date and time Andean Magic Travel receives the request, and notice periods are calculated against the scheduled start date and time of the service, Peru time (UTC−5). Include the lead traveller’s name, the date and the service booked.

We will confirm in writing the amount to be refunded under this policy.

7. Validity

This policy forms part of our Terms and Conditions. We may update it; the version that applies to your booking is the one in force on the date you confirmed it.
