All you need to bring is your passport. It is the option for travellers with little time in Cusco or who would rather not change hotels.
We pick you up at your Cusco hotel before dawn and drive you privately to Ollantaytambo station, in the Sacred Valley. There you board the outbound train, Voyager or Expedition class depending on availability, which runs down the Urubamba canyon to Aguas Calientes in an hour and a half to two hours.
In Aguas Calientes you take the Consettur bus up to the citadel gate, about 25 minutes. With your private guide you tour Machu Picchu along the circuit on your ticket, in around three hours, at your own pace. Then you ride the bus down, have time for lunch in town and return on a panoramic train, Vistadome, Vistadome Observatory or The 360°, depending on availability. In Ollantaytambo the vehicle is waiting to take you back to Cusco, where you arrive in the evening. It is about sixteen hours in total.
The price is per person and includes everything needed to visit the citadel: transport, trains, bus, entrance ticket and guide. It goes down with the number of travellers, from 420 USD for one person to 305 USD per person for groups of 7 to 10. Rates are indicative: the final price is confirmed when you book, because it depends on the date, the train schedule and fare, and on availability on the entrance circuit.
Tickets are sold with a fixed date, time and circuit, and the circuit depends on availability when you book. If you want a specific one, book early. We explain the differences in the Machu Picchu circuits. Huayna Picchu, Machu Picchu Mountain and other additional routes are not included and are quoted separately.
Spaces on circuit 2, the most complete, with Ministry of Culture data updated every 30 minutes. The other circuits and the walk-in sale are on the Machu Picchu availability page. We confirm the space before booking.
Availability updated · Spaces change constantly; we confirm them before booking.
We need each traveller’s full name and passport number to issue the entrance ticket and train tickets. The original passport is shown on the train and at the citadel gate. The visiting rules are in the complete Machu Picchu guide. If you have more days, our 3-day itinerary explains how to combine it with the Sacred Valley and sleep in Ollantaytambo.
Tickets, trains and buses have special cancellation conditions. We explain them in our cancellation policy.
